My loyal readers (and my mom who I'm sure reads everything I write) know that I'm a big foodie. I've even been accused of being a food snob, not a term I like, but one I will own up to on occasion. So when I tell you to drive out to Minerva to a golf course to eat, know the food is worth it.
About The White House Restaurant
Driving down the long winding path through the golf course to the restaurant, you'll feel a million miles away from the farm land and corn fields that surround you. Across a small bridge you'll see a stately white house (actually a renovated barn- but you'd never know that) where the restaurant is located. The owner might even be there to great you- or she may be making your breakfast, lunch or dinner- it depends on the day!
The menu starts with breakfast where you'll find well prepared eggs, waffles, omelets, biscuits and sausage gravy. For those of us who go out to lunch on a regular basis the burgers, and dogs are nice, but the fried fish, meatloaf, BLT and fried bologna are the sandwiches of choice here. Pair a sandwich with a bowl of homemade soup, variety changes everyday. Where the menu gets really interesting is dinner. The entrees include an already famous strip steak, roast beef, Swiss steak, honey baked ham, meatloaf and more! Finish off your visit with the pie or cake made in the kitchen this morning! When it comes to the comfort food this is a place that's competing for your loyalty to Mom's recipes!
