About Project REBUILD
Project REBUILD, Inc. was created as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) in July 1999. The purpose of Project REBUILD is to re-engage out-of-school youth and support them as they work to obtain their high school diploma or GED and become job-ready while also constructing housing for low and moderate income individuals and families. 90% of youth served by Project REBUILD qualify as living at or below the poverty level. The program provides education and job training to at-risk youth between the ages of 16 and 24.
Project REBUILD is an affiliate of the nationally recognized YouthBuild USA program, whereby young people are given the opportunity to earn a high-school diploma or GED while learning construction skills through the rehabilitation or construction of affordable housing. The long term goal is to transform the lives of at-risk youth through education and job training so they may become educated, working, productive contributors to the community. Historically, the youth served by Project REBUILD have quit school or dropped-out, deepening their spiral into poverty. Youth also learn the importance of helping each other and contributing as members of their community. Project REBUILD involves the not-for-profit, government, educational, and business sectors in a partnership to minimize the economic dependency and the incarceration of young people.
