RULES and REGULATIONS
1) The competition will be held in two rounds. In the first round, recipes will be judged by the About Magazine Signature Drink Competition committee. Five finalists from the first round will advance to final competition of the About Magazine Signature Drink Competition..
2) Contestants making it to the final round will not be present for final judging. A neutral bartender, selected by the About Magazine Signature Drink Competition committee and not a participant in the event will create the drink based on ingredients and instruction provided in the submitted recipe.
4) Participants submitting drink and/or bartending must be of legal drinking age of twenty-one (21) years.
5) One (1) entry per person. Bars/Restaurants may have more than one employee enter the competition, but each employee can only enter one recipe. An establishment is limited to a maximum of five (5) submissions per establishment.
6) The panel of judges, consisting of four (4) judges will be approved by the About Magazine Signature Drink Competition committee.
7) The drinks are judged on a combination of taste, ease of creation, appearance and aroma. Results are calculated by figuring total points. The highest score will be the winner. In the event of a tie, those two drinks with the same scores will be re-evaluated by the judges with a tie-breaking judge added in. Judging for a tie will consist of the same judging criteria for drink recipe(s) with the highest score being the winner.
8) Clear instructions of how to make the drink along with precise amounts for an individual serving should be included.
9) All drink recipes must be submitted with a completed entry form by August 9, 2012. Entry forms are available on www.aboutstark.com and at The Repository offices located at 500 Market Ave. S., Canton Ohio 44702.
QUALIFICATIONS
The About Magazine Signature Drink Competition is limited to the first 30 entrants. The competition is open to professional and amateur bartenders and mixologists. Late entries cannot be accepted and all entrants MUST have a completed entry form into The Repository/About Magazine office by the August 9 deadline, otherwise entry is void. The final Competition will be held between August 13-17. Recipes must be submitted by August 9, 2012 to About Magazine, c/o Marketing Department, 500 Market Ave. S., Canton, OH 44702.
PRIZES
The winner will receive a prize package from About Magazine including, but not limited to About Magazine Signature Drink Award, $200 cash prize and a feature in the November issue of About Magazine. More importantly, however, the winner will enjoy the glory and publicity of creating the finest cocktail in Stark County.
